The average price of OSAGO for accident-prone drivers sharply increased in Q2 2026. According to analysts, policies for such car owners rose by 10% at once, to almost 37 thousand rubles. Insurers also confirmed the price increase.

What's happening with OSAGO prices

The average cost of OSAGO across the country for April-June was 7.4 thousand rubles, the Russian Union of Auto Insurers told Izvestia. Compared to Q1, it practically did not change.

However, the policy price sharply jumped for accident-prone drivers – by 10% at once, to 36.9 thousand rubles, according to experts from the insurance marketplace bip. They analyzed data from 2.3 million users. This category in the service included car owners with a bonus-malus coefficient (KBM) from 1.76 to 3.92. It changes depending on the frequency of accidents.

Why this happened

Rosgosstrakh confirmed a 10% increase in policy prices over three months for accident-prone clients. At the same time, for careful car owners, the cost increased by only 3%. Accident-prone car owners traditionally are the first to feel the fluctuations in OSAGO prices, because insurers rightly expect losses from such drivers, the RSA explained.

Drivers with a KBM range from 1.76 to 3.92 are most often the culprits in road accidents. And when the loss ratio situation worsens for any reason, insurers raise tariffs most significantly for them. This allows keeping prices down for careful clients.

Who was luckier with OSAGO prices

For other categories, prices indeed changed less. At the same time, novice drivers hardly felt the price increase: for them, the price changed by less than 1% and averaged 20.2 thousand. This category included car owners with a KBM from 1.17.

Separately, bip experts calculated how much the cost of open OSAGO with a multidrive option increased over three months – it added 7% and rose to 49 thousand rubles.

The increase in OSAGO prices, especially for accident-prone drivers, is primarily due to the expansion of the tariff corridor at the end of last year, according to bip analyst Kirill Matanov. In December, the Central Bank increased it by 15% in both directions. While from the end of 2025, only some insurers began to send more and more offers with an increased base rate, now almost all players are setting an increased value.

However, according to Yuri Strekalov from Rosgosstrakh, the main reason is the increase in OSAGO losses against the backdrop of rising spare parts and repair costs. The most significant price increases are for scarce parts dependent on logistics, primarily for European, Japanese, and Korean cars. This affects the size of the average payout, the expert emphasized.
