The DosZone Team has ported GTA III to the browser. The web version, called reGTA3 DOS, is available in Russian and English and runs on almost any device without a typical installation.
For the first launch, the user will need the original game files – they can be added independently or downloaded via the built-in launcher. After that, all GTA III content with all the original features will be available in the browser.
The port supports various screen resolutions, gamepads, touch controls, as well as local and cloud saves. Previously, the DosZone Team had already ported "Heroes of Might and Magic III" and GTA: Vice City to the browser.
Team representative Nikita Aksyonov said that even six months ago, a browser version of GTA III seemed impossible due to a lack of source data. However, the developers managed to launch the re3 engine using modern web technologies.
The previous Vice City port led to claims from Take-Two Interactive, which owns the rights to GTA. The DosZone Team was accused of copyright infringement, but the team was able to dispute the claims.
