The Zircon hypersonic missile has demonstrated the difficulty of interception for modern anti-missile systems – Patriot complexes with missiles could not shoot down a single such target, said Alexander Stepanov, an expert at the Institute of Law and National Security of RANEPA.

According to him, the results of the missile's use showed the complex's high characteristics, including speed, maneuverability, and the ability to overcome existing air defense systems.

Its use met no resistance even from expensive air defense systems. In particular, Patriot with the latest version of PAC-3 missiles failed and could not intercept a single "Zircon," which indicates its high tactical and technical characteristics, serious speed advantages, and invulnerability.

The expert noted that expensive anti-aircraft missiles could only disperse the inversion trail left after the launch of the "Zircon."

The complex has received sea-based deployment, which allows it to be used from ships and submarine carriers. This scheme provides high mobility of the complex and expands the possibilities of its use.

The development belongs to a new generation of hypersonic systems, where key advantages are speed, range, and the difficulty of detecting and tracking the target.
