Today, July 26, the 241-day expedition to the International Space Station will conclude: at 10:03 Moscow time, the crewed spacecraft "Soyuz MS-28" will undock from the "Rassvet" module, and at 13:26 Moscow time, its descent module is expected to land in Kazakhstan, bringing Roscosmos cosmonauts Sergey Kud-Sverchkov and Sergey Mikaev, as well as NASA astronaut Christopher Williams, back to Earth.

According to Roscosmos, in the morning the spacecraft will undock from the Russian "Rassvet" module and transition to autonomous flight. Then the engines will perform a braking impulse, after which the apparatus will deorbit. The orbital and instrument-assembly modules will separate before entering the atmosphere and will completely burn up.

During the passage through the dense layers of the atmosphere, a plasma cloud with a temperature of about 2 thousand degrees will form around the descent module. Because of this, communication with the crew will be interrupted for several minutes, and the thermal protection coating will be blackened and partially charred after landing.

The final stage of landing will involve a parachute system, and immediately before touchdown, soft-landing engines will activate. Landing is expected in the steppes of Kazakhstan near Zhezkazgan.

At the landing site, the crew will be met by specialists from search and rescue services, medics, and representatives of relevant organizations from Russia and NASA. After an initial medical examination, the Russian cosmonauts will go for rehabilitation at the Cosmonaut Training Center, while the American astronaut will return to the United States.
