A severe accident occurred in the Moscow region, in which the driver miraculously survived thanks to the ERA-GLONASS system. As the victim, Maxim Savitsky, told REN TV, he tried to avoid a collision with a car that suddenly pulled onto the road, swerved, ended up on the shoulder, lost control, and flew into a ditch. At high speed, the car crashed into a tree. The driver who cut off Maxim did not come to his aid.
Savitsky recalls that after the impact, he lost consciousness for some time. When he woke up, he could no longer call an ambulance by phone himself – that's when the ERA-GLONASS system in the car activated. Through the speakerphone, the man contacted the operator and explained what had happened. The arriving rescuers took the victim to the Ruzskaya City Hospital.
ERA-GLONASS is a Russian state emergency response system for accidents. It is built on domestic technologies, and its equipment and software are included in the register of Russian products. The system automatically notifies emergency services about accidents and transmits the exact coordinates of the incident location. In 2022, the ERA-GLONASS module was transferred to a domestic component base, and the software was replaced with Russian software. Car manufacturers are obliged to install an emergency call device on all new cars, and from 2026, on all used cars imported into Russia. This ensures that even in a critical situation, help will arrive promptly, regardless of whether the victim can call rescuers independently.
