Authorities will prohibit ships from anchoring near the sea ports of Azov (Rostov Oblast) and Kavkaz (Krasnodar Krai) in areas not protected by air defense (PVO) systems. This is stated in orders from the Russian Ministry of Transport, published on the official portal of legal acts.

The document for Azov notes that the restrictions do not apply to the waters and approaches to the ports of Yeysk and Taganrog. The order for Kavkaz states that the rule does not apply to the waters of Temryuk.

The Russian Ministry of Transport also imposed a ban on the passage of vessels with faulty communication equipment. Both orders come into force on August 1.

Port Kavkaz is considered the fifth largest in terms of cargo turnover in Russia. It was built in 1953 to serve the Kerch ferry crossing. The infrastructure of the sea hub allows for passenger transportation. On June 21, 2026, ferry services through the Kerch crossing were closed for security reasons.

Port Azov is one of the oldest in southern Russia. It was part of the Volga-Don Shipping Company, and since 1992, it has received the status of an independent economic complex. The port accepts vessels carrying general (packaged goods in boxes, bags) and bulk cargo, as well as sea and river passenger vessels.
