Behind the powerful exterior of the Russian Su-34 fighter-bomber lies a complex electrical system. At the Novosibirsk Aviation Plant named after V. P. Chkalov, where these aircraft are produced, individual wire harnesses can reach 20 meters in length and include up to 200 conductors.
Specialists in the electrical installation shop are responsible for their assembly. The work is carried out according to drawings: wires are gathered into harnesses, then connectors are installed, through which electricity, signals, and data pass between the aircraft's systems.
A harness itself can consist of two conductors or up to two hundred, and reach more than twenty meters in length.
Then, specialists solder connections and assemble distribution devices. Some electrical boxes are responsible for lighting, while others are connected to the landing gear systems. Before installation, the products are checked in a special area to ensure the integrity of the electrical circuits.
By early 2026, the total number of Su-34 bombers built for the Russian Aerospace Forces reached 212 units. The Chkalov Aviation Plant switched to a three-shift operation mode.
