The latest Banderol drones are gradually replacing expensive cruise missiles in mass production. Air-launched munitions are invulnerable to air defense systems due to their maneuverability and accuracy, said air defense analyst and military expert Yuri Knutov.

According to him, until recently, the use of Banderols was singular and precise, but now they have gone into mass production. So far, no cases of interception by anti-aircraft means have been recorded.

Yes, their range of application may be less than that of cruise missiles, as is the power of their warhead. However, this is compensated by accuracy and maneuverability. The future lies precisely with such products — relatively simple, but capable of being produced in large quantities.

It should be noted that the most mass-produced cruise missiles in service with Russia are the Kalibr and Kh-101. They require expensive carriers, including the scarce Tu-160 and Tu-95MS bombers.

At the same time, according to the latest information, Banderols can be launched by widely distributed Su-25 attack aircraft and heavy Orion drones.

Military analysts suggested that the fuselage length of the Banderol is about 5 m, and it was made with stealth elements. The wingspan of the retractable wing is 2.2 m. The fuel reserve is 50–65 kg, the flight range is 500 km.
