AvtoVAZ has started serial production of the updated Lada Niva Legend, which received a new engine, modernized chassis, reinforced body, and a set of modern systems. Production of the modernized SUV began on July 20 at the plant in Tolyatti.

The main change to the model was a new 1.8-liter gasoline engine. Its power increased to 90 horsepower, and average fuel consumption decreased from 9.9 to 9 liters per 100 km. Along with the new engine, the car received a refined suspension, an improved cooling system, and updated transmission elements.

AvtoVAZ engineers made more than 350 changes to the Niva Legend's design. The SUV retained its familiar appearance but received a reinforced body, new passive safety elements, and a modernized braking system with ventilated front discs.

One of the important updates was the use of galvanized steel for a number of body parts. Now, the front panel, hood, roof, tailgate, and rear apron are made of corrosion-protected material.

The new version also includes a driver's front airbag, a cabin filter, central locking, a single key for doors and ignition, and additional electronic systems.

The launch of production of the updated Niva Legend coincided with the 60th anniversary of the signing of the agreement with Fiat on the construction of the Volga Automobile Plant, which marked the beginning of the enterprise's history and the creation of the original "Niva" - one of the most famous Russian SUVs.
