The "Promzheldortrans" Association has appealed to the Russian Ministry of Energy due to the critical situation with diesel fuel, the association's press service reported. More than 190 enterprises serving non-public railway tracks have faced a sharp increase in prices and supply disruptions.

The cost of diesel in several regions has reached 150–180 rubles per liter, which is more than double the level at the beginning of the year. Large wholesale batches have become unavailable, and deliveries under contracts are delayed. Enterprises are forced to purchase fuel in small wholesale quantities at inflated prices. At the same time, regulated tariffs do not allow compensating for the price increase, and the association warns: if they are not promptly adjusted, companies will have to cover fuel costs from funds allocated for locomotive and track repairs, which directly threatens traffic safety.

Alternative traction does not yet save the situation: batteries do not work in winter, gas locomotives require developed infrastructure, and hydrogen is in its infancy. The association believes that without a state strategy and support, small and medium-sized enterprises will not be able to switch to new technologies. For now, the only solution remains the centralized distribution of diesel fuel through working groups with the participation of regions and the Russian Ministry of Energy.
