"Ingosstrakh" has for the first time in Russia insured the "Digital Treasury" platform against cyber risks. It stores cryptocurrency assets, which are now protected in case of an attack, system infection, or technical failure.

The policy can cover cryptocurrency theft, data loss, and remediation costs. The details of the deal are not disclosed, but the limits for such contracts can reach 1-2 billion rubles.

For insurers, this is an almost free market with high profitability. The cost of protection is estimated at 0.5-3% of the insured amount, and the entire segment could grow to 30-40 billion rubles in a year.

Demand could sharply increase after the emergence of licensed crypto intermediaries and depositories. However, for now, insurance remains voluntary – authorities and the Central Bank do not plan to introduce mandatory policies.
