Russian energy remains heavily dependent on foreign equipment. Today, more than 50% of the turbines operating at domestic thermal power plants are of foreign origin.

Rosatom has begun to develop cooperation with the nuclear energy machine-building cluster being created in the Kaluga region.

The launch of full-fledged domestic production in the Kaluga region will allow us to meet this strategic need and reduce dependence on imports.

According to him, without replacing such components, it is impossible to achieve full technological sovereignty in the energy sector.

One of the main tasks will be the modernization of turbine equipment, as well as the development of our own competencies in technical support, repair, and operation of power plants.

This is not only about the production of new units but also about reducing the dependence of Russian energy on imported supplies and foreign services, which for decades remained critically important for the operation of power plants.
