The admission campaign for colleges, technical schools, and universities has started in Russia. More and more applicants are choosing to submit documents electronically through "Gosuslugi". College applicants, for example, have already sent over 500,000 applications. Details were disclosed by the Russian Ministry of Digital Development.

In 2026, the online college selection service was launched

The new function on "Gosuslugi" allows users to view reference information about an educational institution, compare educational programs, and assess their chances of getting a state-funded place, the department said.

Currently, applicants have submitted 598,000 applications to colleges and technical schools through Gosuslugi. This is 16% more than in the same period last year.

Applicants can also apply for targeted training – where an employer pays for tuition and guarantees employment after graduation. In 2026, 15.4 thousand applications have already been submitted, which is almost 20% more than a year earlier.

Among the most popular fields are jurisprudence, software development and management, nursing, general medicine, and logistics.

Almost a million applications submitted to universities

The flow of applications to universities is also growing. Graduates have already submitted or edited more than 900,000 applications through "Gosuslugi" – this is 37% more than a year ago.

The "University Selection" service has been used three times more often – up to 250,000 requests per day, and a total of more than 4.7 million people have already used it.

Approximately 86% of applications were submitted for bachelor's and specialist degrees, 12% for master's degrees, and another 2% for postgraduate studies.

Most often, students choose universities in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Tatarstan, Sverdlovsk, and Novosibirsk regions.

For bachelor's degrees, you can choose up to five universities and the same number of specializations in each. For master's, specialized higher education, and postgraduate studies, there are no restrictions on the number of universities.
