OAK refutes estimate of SaM146 engine re-engining cost for SSJ-100 aircraft at 115 billion rubles

Vadim Badeha: "There can be no talk of hundreds of billions or tens of billions."

The United Aircraft Corporation refuted earlier media reports that the re-engining program for SSJ-100 aircraft would cost approximately 115 billion rubles. This was announced by OAK CEO Vadim Badeha at the "Innoprom – 2026" exhibition.

According to him, the previously published estimate has no relation to real calculations. The corporation emphasizes that the cost of PD-8 engines and necessary modifications is already known, so the expenses are within the usual economics of such programs and significantly lower than the amounts announced in the press.

The estimates that were voiced in "Kommersant" – we can say for sure that this has no relation to reality. The cost of the engine is known today, the cost of modification is known. This definitely fits into the usual economics and there can be no talk of hundreds of billions or tens of billions, this is incorrect information.

The head of OAK also clarified that re-engining will be required for approximately 50–100 SSJ-100 aircraft. As part of the program, Russian-French SaM146 engines are planned to be replaced with fully domestic PD-8 engines.

Earlier, information appeared that re-equipping about 50 aircraft with new power plants could cost about 115 billion rubles. OAK called this data unreliable and stated that the real parameters of the program have already been calculated and do not imply such high costs, but the head of OAK did not name the "correct" prices.
