The Siemens gas turbine, purchased back in 2013, has finally had its moment. "Tatenergo" will use it to build a new 236 MW combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) unit at the Naberezhnye Chelny CHPP.
The 34 billion ruble project is expected to bring the plant to a new level of efficiency by 2029.
The main question is whether the turbine has lost its characteristics during the long storage period. According to Shamil Faizrakhmanov, former director of the Siemens representative office in the Volga region, there are no such risks with proper preservation.
With proper preservation, nothing should have happened to the turbine during this time. The manufacturer is "Silovye Mashiny"; it is clear that the holding will provide service, inspection, and warranty extension.
The GTE-160 turbine, created by "Silovye Mashiny" under a Siemens license, along with a steam turbine and a heat recovery boiler, was acquired more than 10 years ago from "KES-Holding". After changes in investment plans, the equipment was mothballed in a warehouse.
