The production of key components for KamAZ K5 trucks has become fully localized. The Kamsky Mechanical Plant (KMZ) in Naberezhnye Chelny has mastered the full cycle of manufacturing transmission parts, abandoning the transfer of individual operations to third-party enterprises.
This refers to components for gearboxes, transfer cases, and drive axle reducers. The plant has established the production of cylindrical main gear wheels and increased the output of shafts, clutches, and drive flanges, which are supplied directly to the KamAZ assembly line.
The main change is the implementation of a full gear processing cycle. If previously parts were sent to other enterprises for final tooth processing after manufacturing, now the entire process is carried out on modern machines directly at KMZ.
After reaching its design capacity, the plant will be able to produce 158.5 thousand parts per year. Only domestic raw materials are used: blanks in the form of forgings are supplied by KamAZ, and the level of production localization is 100%.
