Sber has simplified the connection of the "Pay with a Smile" service. Now, some customers will be able to register or update their biometrics directly from their smartphone – without visiting an office.
The new scenario is available to those who have a new 10-year international passport or a driver's license. From the service's personal account in SberBank Online, the user will go to "Gosuslugi", sign consents, take a selfie, and automatically return.
For those who already have biometrics in the Unified Biometric System, it is sufficient to separately confirm consent for its use by Sber. Data can be deleted and consents revoked at any time through the "Biometrics" and "Consents" sections on "Gosuslugi".
Now, a significant portion of customers will be able to connect payment by smile literally in a few minutes – without visiting an office and with a minimal number of actions.
More than 6 million people already use the service. In a store, you need to select "Pay with a Smile" on the terminal and look into the camera, and for additional protection, the system may request a four-digit code. Biometrics remain voluntary: you can still pay for purchases with a card, phone, or cash.
