No Longer Exotic: Almost Half of Russians Are Ready to Use Biometrics Instead of Passports

New methods of identity verification will soon be used in medicine

Around 45% of Russians are ready to use biometrics instead of a passport to receive various services. This is confirmed by the results of a sociological survey by VTB.

Olga Skorobogatova, Deputy Chairman of VTB, stated that biometrics will soon cease to be "exotic" and will become part of everyday practice. Already, 50% of respondents are ready to use it for age verification, 46% for paying for public transport, and 40% for making purchases. Another 37% of respondents agree to undergo biometric identification to receive benefits, and 23% for conducting transactions.

Biometrics opens up fundamentally new opportunities in everyday services, where it can simplify routine operations, guarantee security, and provide additional benefits to customers.

The survey involved 1,500 Russians living in cities with a population of over 100,000 people.
