At SPIEF-2026, the ability to work with AI was named one of the key skills for youth in the future

Critical thinking and the ability to constantly learn also entered the top competencies

Participants of the Youth Day of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2026) identified the main competencies for a career in the coming years. According to a survey by the educational company "Netology", working with artificial intelligence and data was among the priority skills, taking second place with a result of 70%.

Analytical and critical thinking came in first place – 83% of respondents chose it. The ability to constantly learn (55%) closes the top three. At the same time, qualities such as communication skills (19%), creativity (15%), and leadership (11%) were at the bottom of the list.

Valentina Kurenkova, Director of the Department for the Development of State and Corporate Relations at "Netology", explained to TASS that AI skills have already become a mandatory requirement for job seekers. According to her, educational companies are actively responding to this demand by constantly expanding their range of relevant programs.
