Earth to be hit by powerful magnetic storm on June 8: the last blow of solar plasma is heading towards the planet

Geomagnetic conditions will sharply worsen in the coming hours

A strong magnetic storm is forecast on Earth in the coming hours. Specialists from the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of IKI RAS and ISZF SB RAS reported the approach of a new stream of solar plasma.

According to scientists, the last in a series of charged particle clouds, ejected by the Sun as a result of recent increased activity, is heading towards the planet. The stream is expected to reach near-Earth space within two to three hours.

Experts note that this particular ejection is capable of provoking the most noticeable increase in geomagnetic disturbances. After its arrival, the Earth's magnetic field may enter a state of strong storm.

Previously, the Sun produced several plasma ejections in a row. Some of these streams have already reached Earth, causing magnetospheric fluctuations. Now scientists are monitoring the approach of the last cloud, which will complete the current series of impacts on the geomagnetic environment.
