A quarter of astronaut candidates are women: Roscosmos announced the results of the recruitment on Gosuslugi

Roscosmos summarized the interim results of the open recruitment for the cosmonaut corps, applications for which are accepted through the Gosuslugi portal. Almost a quarter of the candidates are women, the state corporation reported.

Of all submitted applications, 76% were sent by men, 24% by women. The youngest applicant is 19 years old, the oldest is 35. A draft application on the portal was created by 11 thousand people.

Those who pass the remote selection will be invited to the Cosmonaut Training Center. There, applicants will undergo a medical examination, an interview, a physical fitness test, as well as tests for compliance with education and professional qualifications.

Applicants must be no older than 35, have a higher education in exact, natural, or medical sciences, and be proficient in English, Italian, Spanish, German, or French. The acceptance of documents on Gosuslugi opened on April 12 and will last until the end of June. Roscosmos clarified that the in-person selection stage will begin after this date.
