The National Research Center of FEFU presented a number of its own developments at the Far Eastern "Maritime Congress" to restore Russia's leadership in designing a modern fleet, the university's press service reported. The key element of the innovations presented is the rejection of the outdated practice of building according to foreign patterns and the transition to research design using domestic equipment and a high degree of localization.
The central exhibit was the patented DolphinBow bow. Unlike traditional, often copied outdated forms, its unique geometry allows not only to significantly improve seaworthiness, but also to noticeably reduce fuel consumption.
According to Oleg Bratukhin, the general designer of the center, it was the reliance in recent decades on "time-tested" but foreign projects that preserved the technological backwardness of the industry. The new strategy of the center, on the contrary, involves the creation of fundamentally new solutions, which directly increases the competitiveness and efficiency of future Russian ships.
