Russians may be allowed to pay for parking within 24 hours

The bill is currently undergoing public discussion

Users of paid parking lots, where entry and exit are not equipped with control means, will be able to pay for the service within 24 hours. This is stated in the draft law of the Russian Ministry of Transport, published on the federal portal of regulatory legal acts for public discussion.

The document will for the first time at the federal level establish the concept of parking activity and build a unified parking management system.

The agency believes that this approach will make payment more flexible and reduce the administrative burden on drivers.

The bill establishes the concept of "parking activity." This refers to the management of a set of public parking lots within the boundaries of a municipality or a city of federal significance.

It is proposed to include such parking lots in a single register for accounting and monitoring availability. Regions and municipalities may receive additional powers in the field of parking activity.

It is expected that the new rules will increase the efficiency of road use by streamlining parking. In addition, the number of cases where a driver leaves a parking lot without payment will decrease.
