Border Guard Service vessels and fishing fleet to be repaired in Murmansk

"Atomflot" may become one of MSRZ's customers

Murmansk Ship Repair Plant (MSRZ, part of S7 Group) will begin repairing Border Guard Service vessels and the fishing fleet. In the future, the company's management expects contracts with "Atomflot," stated Murmansk Region Governor Andrey Chibis.

According to Chibis, for a long time there was no shipyard in the region that serviced a wide class of vessels for operation in Arctic conditions, including along the Northern Sea Route (NSR).

The 2025 report indicates that MSRZ has 3 floating docks on its balance sheet, 2 of which are being modernized. The lifting capacity of one of the docks is 30 thousand tons. This is the most powerful engineering structure in the Northwestern Federal District.

A representative of S7 Group confirmed that repairs will be carried out by order starting in the summer of 2026. The plant's existing capacities can accommodate dry cargo ships, merchant fleet vessels, but an expansion of the dock infrastructure is planned.

Deputy Head of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade Roman Chekushov stated in November 2025 that almost 70% of Russian vessels are currently repaired at shipyards in China, South Korea, and Turkey. This is due to a shortage of large-tonnage docks, as well as restrictions on the supply of spare parts due to Western sanctions.
