Russia needs its own deep-water drilling technologies, including in ice conditions, as access to foreign equipment and developments is limited due to sanctions. This was stated by Nikolai Patrushev, head of the Maritime Board of Russia, at the council for the development and provision of maritime activities.
In connection with the current situation, Russia is working on replacing critical imported equipment. Leading scientific organizations and industrial enterprises are engaged in the development, he emphasized.
The key task is to switch to our own production of the necessary technological equipment.
Patrushev noted that certain progress has already been made in this direction. In particular, the first domestic underwater manifold has been created. This is the main element of the subsea production system, which is a receiving and distribution manifold with fittings.
In addition, Russian-made subsea fittings and autonomous bottom seismic monitoring stations (devices for recording seismic vibrations on the seabed to search for oil and gas fields) are being put into operation. Specialists are also developing systems for drilling extended-reach directional wells from shore, he concluded.
