AK-24B anchor for the "Ivan Frolov" NES of project 23680 under construction will be manufactured at KMZ

The mass of the retaining device with balanced flukes will be 5858 kg

Specialists of the military-industrial holding "Kingisepp Machine-Building Plant" (KMZ) will manufacture AK-24B anchors for the research vessel (NES) "Ivan Frolov" (project 23680) under construction in St. Petersburg. This was reported by the holding's press service.

KMZ has approved the documentation for the 5858 kg anchor with the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping. The device for holding the vessel at anchor will be manufactured according to technical specifications developed in the holding's design bureau.

The work is carried out within the framework of the government import substitution program at the industrial sites owned by the holding with full localization of production.

The AK-24B design differs from the basic AK-24 model by balanced flukes. The AK-24B anchor line is available in variants weighing from 5512 to 15000 kg.

The NES "Ivan Frolov" is being built at the Admiralty Shipyards in St. Petersburg. The vessel is intended for logistical support of polar stations. It will become part of the fleet of the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute (AARI).
