70 Thousand Per Year: AvtoVAZ Revealed Production Plan for Lada Azimut Crossover on Vesta Platform

Almost 1000 original components and parts were developed for the new model

AvtoVAZ is ready to produce up to 70 thousand Lada Azimut crossovers annually. According to TASS, these figures were mentioned in materials for the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Rostec State Corporation head Sergey Chemezov. The model is built on its own Vesta platform, and its world premiere already took place in the summer of 2025 at the SPIEF.

Almost 1000 original components and parts were developed for the car. The list includes body panels, lighting equipment, interior elements, and a new rear suspension. The engine range starts with modernized 1.6-liter (120 hp) and 1.8-liter (132 hp) engines paired with a six-speed manual or a variator. Later, the lineup will be supplemented by a 150 hp turbo engine with a classic automatic transmission. Serial production will begin in September 2026.

In the third quarter of 2026, AvtoVAZ plans to present a pilot model of a plug-in hybrid based on Azimut. Preliminary characteristics: all-wheel drive, power of 290 kW (about 394 hp), acceleration to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds, and a range of up to 1100 km without refueling. If these figures are confirmed in series production, Azimut will become the most dynamic car in the brand's history.
