Russia Builds Aircraft in 6 Years: Twice as Fast as Boeing and Airbus

Anton Alikhanov: It takes more than 20 years to create a liner from scratch

It takes more than 20 years to create an aircraft from scratch without any prior developments. This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Anton Alikhanov.

He noted that not all projects eventually "take off." For example, Japan spent billions of dollars on creating an original aircraft, but achieved nothing.

If you had nothing to create a liner and decided to build all systems, engines, airframe, aerodynamics, and so on from scratch, 20 years would not be enough for you.

The head of Rosaviatsiya, Dmitry Yadrov, stated that Russia has learned to build aircraft in 6–7 years, while leading Western aircraft manufacturers Boeing and Airbus spend twice as much time – from 10 to 12 years.

Yadrov also emphasized that Russia has formed its own component base. Units, assemblies, power plants – everything is made within the country, which no one else in the world can boast of.
