The start of the raid season in the Astrakhan region brought the Lada Sport Auto Finance team a bronze medal. The first stage of the Russian Rally Raid Championship – the "Zoloto Kagana" Baja – became the second competition for the updated Lada Niva Sport Turbo. The total length of the race exceeded 1000 kilometers.
In winter, the team modernized the car, taking into account the experience of last year's "Silk Way". In spring, the car passed tests at the factory proving ground, but the special stages in the Astrakhan region became the real challenge.
The crew, consisting of Mikhail Mityaev and Egor Okhotnikov, started the race with the third fastest time in the prologue in the "Raid Sport" class. On the third and fourth competition days, they showed the second result in their class, and at the end of the entire stage, they took third place.
According to the team, the main outcome of the race is not so much the medal as the testing of the updated Lada Niva Sport Turbo in harsh desert conditions. The car confirmed its reliability and potential, and the crew earned points for the championship standings.
