Improved AK-12 Enters Service: Kalashnikov Fulfills Large State Order

The plant accelerated the production of assault rifle parts using a new MIM casting method

The first large batch of AK-12 assault rifles, model 2023, has been delivered to the state customer as part of the contract for 2026. The delivery was carried out by the Kalashnikov Concern.

The 5.45 mm caliber assault rifle has remained the primary small arm of the Russian forces since 2020. Production volumes are maintained at a stable level, and the production of the shortened AK-12K version is expanding. The experience of its use in combat missions has confirmed the reliability of the compact modification, which has led to an increasing demand for both variants.

The weapon is integrated into the "Ratnik" combat gear. The 2023 model features redesigned ergonomics and is fully prepared for operation in fluctuating temperatures and low light conditions. Engineers have increased the accuracy and grouping of fire compared to earlier generations of the series.

To meet the increased state defense orders, the plant has switched to MIM technology. Metal injection molding of powder mixtures under pressure accelerates the production of complex parts and improves their strength characteristics. This solution allows for increasing serial production without compromising the quality of finished products.
