Russian turbojet engines were built with an eye on the USSR, but caught up with Boeing's level

Mikhail Kovalchuk: Airbus has dozens of countries in cooperation, and we do it ourselves

Russian turbojet engines have preserved the Soviet industrial base and reached a new level, having learned to produce power plants on a full cycle. This was stated by the head of the Kurchatov Institute Research Center, Mikhail Kovalchuk.

According to him, besides Russia, only the USA, Great Britain, and France possess such technologies.

Any Boeing or Airbus has dozens of countries in cooperation. We are forced, but we do it ourselves. That is, we have preserved the Soviet base and moved to a new level.
Mikhail Kovalchuk, President of the Kurchatov Institute Research Center

Kovalchuk pointed out the special significance of Rybinsk as a scientific and industrial cluster where high technologies are concentrated. One of the largest ODK Saturn plants operates in the city.

Recall that in the civilian sector, the key engines are the modern PD-14 for the MC-21, PD-8 for the Superjet, the proven PS-90A, and the promising super-powerful PD-35.

Military aviation relies on high-tech AL-41F, AL-31F, RD-33, and the most powerful NK-32 for strategic missile carriers.
