The crew of the diesel-electric submarine "Volkhov" (Project 636.3 "Varshavyanka") conducted torpedo firing at mock enemy ships in the Sea of Japan. This was reported by the press service of the Pacific Fleet.
During tactical exercises, the sailors were tasked with covertly entering the area where enemy ships had been detected. The submarine "Volkhov" took up an advantageous position and opened fire.
Pacific Fleet servicemen "sank" the enemy ship using 2 training torpedoes. After completing the combat exercise, the submarine practiced evading pursuit by anti-submarine warfare ships.

The submarine was laid down at Admiralty Shipyards in 2017. It entered service with the Pacific Fleet in 2020.
Project 636.3 "Varshavyanka" submarines are considered almost silent. Because of this, in the West they were nicknamed "black holes".
The submarines carry Kalibr family cruise missiles, as well as USET-80 and TE-2 torpedoes. In addition to torpedo armament, the "Volkhov" is equipped with mines.
