Satellite Loss: Tricolor and NTV-Plus Subscribers Will Have to Change Equipment

The reconfiguration will take months, and not all subscribers will receive compensation from the operator

The failure of the Express-AT1 satellite on March 4 left 5 million Tricolor viewers and NTV-Plus customers without a TV signal. According to CNews, the operators have restored broadcasting via other devices, but subscribers will have to change converters and firmware.

Tricolor lost 1.5 million households (320 thousand in the Krasnoyarsk Territory alone). The company has agreed to lease the ABS-2 satellite (UAE). The company promises to compensate subscribers for the services of installers. 70 thousand applications have been processed, and another 100 thousand are in the queue.

NTV-Plus has transferred broadcasting to Yamal-402 (Gazprom), but no compensation is provided. At the same time, the Far East was left without a signal at all.

The state enterprise "Cosmic Communications" has announced a competition for the creation of a new Express-AT3 satellite - the launch is expected no earlier than 2030.

In the Altai Territory, 258 settlements have no alternative to satellite TV at all. And this is the price of one failed device in orbit.
