Russia Plans to Launch About 1 GW of "Green" Energy in 2026

After 677 MW in 2025, the industry is preparing for a record launch of facilities

By 2026, the country will put into operation new solar and wind power plants with a total capacity of approximately 1 gigawatt. This was announced by Alexey Zhikharev, Head of the Renewable Energy Development Association.

At the end of 2025, the installed capacity of renewable energy sources in Russia reached 7.21 GW. Over the past year, 677.58 MW of new RES generation facilities were put into operation.

Alexey Zhikharev added that the industry expects a qualitative leap this year: the volume of commissioning will almost one and a half times exceed the figures of the previous period. According to experts, this growth indicates the stabilization of equipment supply chains and the adaptation of project teams to the new conditions.

The Renewable Energy Development Association, representing the interests of key players in the sector, notes a steady demand for low-carbon solutions from both the industrial sector and regional energy companies. The focus is not only on classic wind and solar farms, but also on projects in the field of hydrogen energy and energy storage systems.
