The leading Belarusian manufacturer of dump trucks, OJSC "BELAZ," has begun testing unmanned vehicles at the test site in the village of Sitnitsa, Brest region, where innovative types of equipment are being tested. This was reported by the press service of the auto giant.
For BelAZ — the production of unmanned vehicles — is a strategic foundation for development for decades to come.
According to him, the future of the mining industry lies in digitalization. BelAZ is betting on its own developments and cooperation with partners from Russia.
The dump truck manufacturer is creating intelligent control systems and software (SW) to avoid dependence on foreign technologies. This is a contribution to technological leadership, Lesin concluded.
BelAZ cooperates with the United Institute of Mechanical Engineering of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) of Belarus (Minsk) and "InDev Solutions." The IT company has carried out research and development work (R&D) on the project for the development of a component base for "unmanned" mining technology complexes. Its specialists have developed and implemented autonomous control algorithms and data processing solutions.
