The laboratory "Specialized Robotic Systems for New Nuclear Energy" will appear at the "Sirius" University. It will be opened on the basis of the educational and experimental site of the "Breakthrough" project direction. The corresponding agreement was signed by representatives of Rosatom, leading universities of the country, as well as industrial partners of the state corporation.
The laboratory will focus on 6 areas:
- performing R&D in robotics
- participating in grant competitions
- creating educational programs
- training specialists in science-intensive areas
- initiatives to achieve technological leadership
- developing a laboratory development program
The press service of Rosatom explained that specialists from JSC "SCHK" and JSC "Diakont" plan to participate in R&D and the development of design solutions. Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU), the Technical Academy of Rosatom, and the Seversk Technological Institute of NRNU MEPhI will prepare educational programs and advanced training courses.
Our developments in the field of robotics fully meet the requirements of technological superiority.
Sergey Kotov, General Director of JSC "SCHK", stated that the enterprise is implementing unique technologies within the framework of the "Breakthrough" project. In the coming years, robotic systems will be introduced at the facilities of the Pilot Demonstration Energy Complex (ODEK, under construction in Seversk). The laboratory in "Sirius" will become a platform for developing advanced solutions and training highly qualified specialists.
About the "Breakthrough" Project
Rosatom is implementing one of the most advanced projects in the global nuclear energy industry. It involves the creation of equipment and infrastructure to ensure a closed nuclear fuel cycle with fast neutron reactors.
In 2023, an experimental base was opened at the "Sirius" University. Russian robotic manipulators, devices for assembling fuel rods, and automatic production lines from pressing fuel pellets to assembling fuel assemblies started operating here.
The infrastructure was developed within the framework of the concept of unmanned production. Robots will service all modules.
