The introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms into the "Gerbera" mother drone will allow the device to independently select a greater number of targets to hit. This opinion was expressed by Alexander Stepanov, an expert at the Institute of Law and National Security of the RANEPA.
According to the military expert, developers can improve "Gerbera" in the future by integrating a number of important functions. In particular, equip the UAV with a powerful thermobaric munition to eliminate energy, logistics and other infrastructure of the enemy.
The introduction of AI into its control system fits into the logic of the technological trend of development, which allows introducing new tactical techniques and improving the strategy of using UAVs.
Stepanov stressed that Russian soldiers use universal drones that can simultaneously solve several combat tasks. The "Gerbera", given its payload (up to 10 kg) and range (up to 300 km), has reconnaissance and strike potential, which should be used, he concluded.
