The regional turboprop aircraft Il-114-300 made its first flight outside Russia. As part of the international air show Wings India, the airliner departed from Begumpet Airport.
The Il-114-300 spent more than an hour in the air, flying to the city of Chennai, located 650 km from the city of Hyderabad, and back, after which it landed.
The aircraft covered more than 500 km at a speed of up to 425 km/h. The website of the United Aircraft Corporation states that the cruising speed for the Il-114-300 is 450 km/h.
Apparently, the crew was tasked with carrying out a flight comparable in parameters to a regional route.
Recall that the Il-114-300 is a modernized version of the Il-114 turboprop aircraft; the plane will replace the outdated An-24, as well as foreign Bombardier Dash 8 and ATR 72 aircraft.
Deputy Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Gennady Abramenkov noted that the Il-114-300 is fully independent of supplies from other countries. The aircraft has already completed the basic test program in Russia.
