Completely Our Own: Il-114-300 and "Superjet" Are Independent of Western Sanctions

Aircraft production is 100% localized in Russia

Western sanctions will not be able to hinder the production of new Russian Il-114-300 and SJ-100 aircraft. This was stated by Deputy Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Gennady Abramenkov.

According to him, Il-114 and "Superjet" are unique in that they were completely assembled in one country on their own production base.

Accordingly, one of their main advantages is that no sanctions pressure can stop the production of these aircraft.

Abramenkov added that in cooperation with India, the first step will be the supply of already assembled aircraft. Then the parties will discuss the assembly of fuselages and finished elements on the territory of the republic.

We are ready to consider various options for cooperation under conditions acceptable to each party.

On Wednesday, January 28, 2026, the United Aircraft Corporation presented the Il-114-300 and SJ-100 at the Wings India exhibition. This is the first world premiere of completely import-substituted aircraft.

It should be noted that the Il-114-300 and SJ-100 have not yet received a type certificate in Russia, but this does not prevent them from participating in international exhibitions. In the first case, the aircraft has already completed the basic test program, and the readiness of the "Superjet" was estimated at 92%.

Independent aviation expert Alexei Zakharov warned that the serial production of the Il-114-300 may be associated with problems due to an unadjusted supply chain of components.
