Thermobaric rounds of the heavy flamethrower system TOS-1A "Solntsepyok" burn out fortifications to a depth of up to five meters. This was reported by the Zvezda TV channel.
After strikes by the "Solntsepyok," assault units only have to approach, finish clearing the fortification, and then they can move on.
The combustible aerosol mixture penetrates shelters, and the subsequent volumetric explosion destroys them completely.
A full salvo of the TOS-1A covers about 40,000 m² — almost six football fields.

The operating principle of a thermobaric munition is that when it hits the target, a special charge is activated, which evenly disperses a dry thermobaric mixture and simultaneously detonates it.
