Two of the five collapsed power line supports in the Murmansk region had been in operation for 60 years. This was reported by the investigation department of the Investigative Committee for the Murmansk region.
Two supports have been functioning since 1966, two more — since 1982, one — since 1988. The service life of the supports is 40 years, after which every 5 years the power lines and power line supports are subjected to technical inspection.
Specialists, including explosives technicians and experts in the field of energy, continue to inspect the scene.
The supports collapsed in Murmansk on January 23. After that, electricity was massively cut off in Murmansk and Severomorsk. Security forces have opened a criminal case on the grounds of negligence. A state of emergency is now in effect in the Murmansk region.
