"Chopped Up, Then Finished Off": F-16 Fighter Couldn't Escape S-300 SAM

Russian serviceman called the Western aircraft an "interesting" target

The S-300 anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) unit destroyed a Western F-16 fighter with two missiles. This was reported by the commander of the Russian Armed Forces' anti-aircraft missile division with the call sign Sever.

The most interesting target that we managed to hit was the F-16. We chopped it up with the first missile, and finished it off with the second.

According to the commander, his unit received the S-300 in 2024. The servicemen neutralized many threats, including ATACMS missiles and HIMARS rockets.

In the spring of 2025, the Russian Ministry of Defense officially announced for the first time that air defense systems had shot down an F-16 fighter. Later, it was reported that another American-made aircraft had been hit.
