For the timely launch of serial production of the new LMS-901 "Baikal" aircraft, it is necessary to approve as soon as possible the passport of the investment project, which involves financing the supply of "An-2 replacement" at preferential leasing rates. This position was presented by Maxim Kharin, Commercial Director of the Ural Civil Aviation Plant (UZGA).
According to him, the issue of preferential financing for the supply of serial aircraft under contracts with airlines and the State Transport Leasing Company has not yet been resolved.
To transition from prototypes to a serial project, a prompt political decision is required to agree on and approve the investment project passport in the near future.
Kharin emphasized that such a measure guarantees the continuity of work and will allow UZGA to start fulfilling the order on time.
Regional carriers are ready to purchase aircraft, but it is necessary to provide preferential lending for the purchase. At current commercial rates, the economic efficiency of aircraft operation, unfortunately, will not be achieved.
As a reminder, "Baikal" is designed to replace the Soviet An-2 on local airlines. In October, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Anton Alikhanov, stated that "Baikal" will take to the skies as early as 2025. There have been no news about this yet.
