«Did you forget your head at home?» The State Duma will consider a bill on access to schools using biometrics

The system is already being tested in Tatarstan

Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Grigorenko announced that a bill will be submitted to the State Duma on the possibility of using biometric technologies for secure access to school grounds. According to him, biometrics will become an alternative to traditional passes and provide a higher level of security for students.

The experimental system is already being tested in Tatarstan. Grigorenko noted that the regional pilot project has proven its effectiveness: parents can track when their child arrived at school and left it, and access is only possible using unique biometric data.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that «a face cannot be stolen or forged,» which makes the technology reliable for access control.

The bill provides for the possibility of using biometrics not only in schools, but also at other facilities. In the future, the system may become part of the MAX (modernized automated system of economic control), where biometric data will be used for safe and convenient access for employees and visitors.
