Economist Names Main Problem of Aircraft Industry: No Personnel, Money, and Time

Flight crews also need to be retrained for domestic aircraft

The key problem in the inability to scale up production of the Tu-214 at the Kazan Aviation Plant (KAZ, part of PJSC "Tupolev", GC "Rostec") is the shortage of qualified personnel. This point of view was presented by economist and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Transinvest LLC, Dmitry Semenov.

In his opinion, aviation industry enterprises are capable of providing airlines with a fleet of domestically produced aircraft. However, this will not happen as quickly as we would like - the process may take 5-10 years.

Firstly, the shortage of qualified personnel at aviation industry enterprises. Secondly, the investment capabilities of customers and timeframes. Thirdly, retraining flight crews for Russian aircraft. Fourthly, establishing an uninterrupted serial production of aircraft parts.
Dmitry Semenov, economist

Honored Test Pilot of the Russian Federation, Hero of Russia Alexander Garnaev, explained to "First Technical" that the Kazan Aviation Plant is not able to resume serial production of the Tu-214. Despite the allocated 40 billion rubles, none of the professionals are seriously talking about restoring production at the enterprise, he emphasized.
