Roscosmos plans to begin selecting cosmonauts using artificial intelligence (AI) in the first quarter of 2026, according to Dmitry Bakanov, head of the state corporation.
According to the CEO of the space company, AI will conduct psychological tests and evaluate the medical and physical indicators of cosmonauts.
Artificial intelligence will help accumulate and analyze all of this.
In July 2025, the state corporation also resorted to the help of the GigaChat neural network. The AI assistant was implemented on the International Space Station.
The neural network was launched to facilitate the processing of text and voice notes from the crew in conditions of limited communication with Earth.
