The small spacecraft "Lobachevsky" produced by Nizhny Novgorod State University (NNSU) based on the "Geoscan 16U" satellite platform has been prepared for launch into orbit. This was reported by the press service of the university.
The satellite is equipped with two cameras — multispectral and hyperspectral.
Spectral data obtained from space orbit will be processed using a hardware and software complex created at the Institute of ITMM.
The satellite is scheduled to launch from the "Vostochny" cosmodrome in late December 2025. The device will be used to assess the condition of vegetation in forests and agricultural massifs.
Experts also plan to test a complex of memristor boards integrated with an FM repeater on the satellite.
Earlier www1.ru reported that NSU is starting work on a new satellite for monitoring space in collaboration with Roshydromet and Roscosmos.
