Scientists from the Research Institute of Therapy and Preventive Medicine (НИИТПМ) in Novosibirsk have developed an online calculator that allows doctors to determine the probability of a particular type of diabetes in young patients in a few minutes.

The program analyzes the data and gives the percentage probability of each type of diabetes. The calculator can be used on both a computer and a smartphone, which facilitates the work of doctors at the appointment.
The development is based on a medical database. Statisticians identified key factors indicating various types of diabetes, and programmers integrated them into a convenient application. It is planned that a patent for the tool will be obtained in 2026, after which the calculator will begin to be implemented in medical institutions in Russia.
According to experts, this tool will help reduce the time of diagnosis and increase the accuracy of determining the type of diabetes, especially in young patients, in whom the disease may be latent. International experience shows that digital calculators and algorithms greatly facilitate the work of endocrinologists and accelerate the correct diagnosis.
