Russia is considering building a railway in Afghanistan as part of investment projects proposed by Kabul. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF).
According to him, these projects are aimed at improving transport connectivity in Eurasia and support the concept of the Greater Eurasian Partnership.
Overchuk noted that Afghanistan occupies a strategic position in the center of the continent, therefore Moscow is interested in expanding cooperation with this country.
The construction of the railway is also being discussed with the authorities of India, Iran, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
