Yakovlev Test Pilots Accelerate SJ-100 to Maximum Possible Speed

Test pilot Savonin: Engines performed stably in all tested acceleration and throttling modes

On Friday, August 5, at the Dzyomgi airfield in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, the first flight of the short-haul aircraft SJ-100 (serial number 97004, tail number 97024), built using serial technologies, took place.

Test pilot Dmitry Savonin described how the aircraft performed in flight, as well as the tasks set before the crew by the management.

The flight duration was about 60 minutes, the "Superjet" climbed to an altitude of 3000 meters, the crew checked the operation of systems and units in various modes.

The flight was successful, the task was completed in full, all the aircraft's systems and units operated normally. Minimum and maximum speeds were achieved. The engines operated stably in all tested acceleration and throttling modes. The entire crew is satisfied with the flight.

The maximum speed of the SJ-100 aircraft is about 950-981 km/h (or about 0.81-0.91 Mach), although during testing the aircraft exceeded these parameters, reaching Mach 0.87 at a speed of about 619 km/h on indicated airspeed.
